Discussant for the ‘In the Studio’ session of a V&A study day on how women shape, sustain and reimagine contemporary Chinese craft, held alongside the display Dimensions: Contemporary Chinese Studio Crafts.

A study day bringing together artists, curators and practitioners to explore how women shape, sustain and reimagine contemporary Chinese craft – from village weavers to contemporary studio artists – highlighting creative agency and cultural contributions often overlooked in art-historical narratives. Held alongside the V&A display Dimensions: Contemporary Chinese Studio Crafts, supported by the Tiān Foundation.
Section One: In the Studio
With ceramic artist Xu Qun, filmmaker and ceramic artist Tan Hongyu, and artist Liu Xi, all featured in the display, and Li Xiaoxin, Curator of Chinese collections at the V&A. Nie Xiaoyi was the discussant.
Section Two: In the Workshop
With Zhang Shuye (RCA), Duan Yiran (YiCraft) and Lu Chuan (GyryCraft); discussant Li Xiaoxin.
